Default Petition: We need pet controls!

Well, I love playing as a beastmaster with my ranger, in fact it's just about the only thing I do, but the problem is, my pet is dumb as a rock, first I can't get him to attack without me bashing my target with a frying pan, if I move he gets off of his target and he comes and tries to give me a hug! So I suggest that pets get controlled the way henchies do. it would be nice if we could flag our pets and if they listened to calls. Well this is just a vast improvement that could be made with, I think, a very small amount of effort.

agree. I Think with 1 button its possible to control pet, if he has to attack or not on selected target, just like your hero's

Pets are naturally not particulaly intelligent, thats the way it should be, the reason why heros are controlable is because they are human and humans have intelligence, if one human tells another to use something they do they will do it (if the 1st person is in charge). Pets on the other hand dont understand human ways, therefore u can tell them to do something and they'll just look at u and do there own thing

true they understand a simple command like attack, follow me etc. (which is what the pets currently do) but they dont understand when u tell them to waltz, use a bow, sit up the dinner table and make small talk.

then again, in RL you can tell a well trained pet "Sic Em" and they will attack who you point at, in here you have to wack said target a few times before your pet gets the picture, and you are supposed to be a beast MASTER so you should be able to command your pet a little better, also, you can tell a pet to "stay" in real life too.

Also, I'm not saying they should get explicit controls like heroes do, with passive, offensive, and defensive, and such, that would be overkill. But they should atleast be able to listen to calls, they have ears ya know. and a "stay" command would be nice too..

true perhaps a agression control, like the agressive, defensive, dont attack commands on heros, but other than that no other controls should be made. Even the very best trained pet doesnt understand, it simply responds on instinct from actions it has learned to do. And desite u telling it to do something in Rl it doesnt mean it will neccisaily follow ur command, even well trained animals will not obey commands they dont understand or dont want to do.

rrrg I just can't win huh? ok really all I want is me to get my pet to attack without having to attack the enemy first, and for my pet to stop breaking aggro when I take two steps.. Is that too much?

Cripes lord knows it gets tiring when I try to use my pet to tankmaster to level him to Dire 20 and every time I turn around my pet comes with his 5 Minotaurs in tow to try and give me a bloody hug. Bloody hug ftl

Ugh. This isn't a real life pet, so the argument is moot. In terms of game mechanics, I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to give a pet simple orders like "attack" or "stay" like heroes. A target button and a flag for the pet, just like heroes have, would be ideal.

erm did u not see my agreement that perhaps some sort of aggression/attack/notattack, would be acceptable, i was just poiting out anything else wouldnt be realistic (which is what gw is best at, despite all the magics and races etc. it keeps things with a degree of realism)

If they can understand pet commands they can damn well understand how to stay still.

Provided that the controls are somewhat simple, don't take up more skillslots (we need skills to be compressed a bit actually), and don't infect pets with the silly Hero AI. I really don't need my Tigger sometimes leeroying after the Monks when they remember they left the gas on.

I'd go for having Charm Animal switch the pet between attacking your current target and returning to your side. Like, clicking it with a hostile target causes your pet to attack that target. Clicking it on the same target/yourself causes it to return to your side.

That'd be handy, because whilst currently when changing targets, the pet lags behind. Under a system like that, you'd be able to change targets and have your pet follow immediately, or not at all. I likey.

/signed I WAS going to make my ranges pet Dire, but proved FAR too time-consuming, due to having to attack an enemy, then sit there, possibly taking damage so that it would keep attacking. We could really use Attack, Come Here, and Stay commands, minimum, for pets.
